Introduction weekend & midnight shopping

Hi everyone,

So, it took a while, but here’s my second blogpost! I am two weeks in Avon now and I just love it here. I don’t really know where to start, but I will just begin writing randomly and probably not in the right order.

I just had two weeks of volleyballtraining and I really like it, although I’m pretty bad. We have had our first scrimmage, for which we went to another school in the regio with the schoolbus (for the dutchies: yes, the typical cute yellow ones). I didn’t play, but it was fun to watch and support with the whole team. I also went midnight shopping with Dana (my hostsister) and it was so much fun! We went to a huge Wegman’s at like 1 AM, walked around there for like an hour and then drove around for almost two hours singing the most catchy songs ever.

Before the introduction weekend of Rotary district 7120, I already met another exchange student, who couldn’t be there at the weekend. So I went out for dinner with her, Ed and Julie. It was very nice and after dinner, Claudia and I went for some shopping and we walked into the Forever 21. It was so extremely big! It was a very nice evening :).

On Friday, the 25th of August, I went with my host siblings and hostdad to the Kueka Lake (one of the Fingerlakes) to spend the night there. We went for bike rides, boating and tubing.  We went superfast with the boat and it was so much fun! The Kueka Lake is very beautiful. On Saturday we drove to Little Italy, where the introduction weekend was. It was a fun weekend, all the exchange students were super nice! We did a bonfire (with smores), games and of course pictures with all the flags. After the weekend, Nathalie (from Czech Republic) invited me for a bonfire at her place. It was a nice evening and I got to know her a little better, so that was great. Oh, and she got a kitten!

A few days ago I met Tabata, a girl from Ecuador who was here in Avon three years ago and I went for lunch with her and Ed. On Wednesday night, I had a pizza & bonfire thing with the volleyballteam, which was fun. We had to make senior volleyball pictures, so I wil be probably hanging in the gym soon haha. I also went walking through the cornfields and taking pictures with Dana. I will post here a few pictures, because I really like them. The first two weeks here were really nice and I’m having a great experience so far. So far, so good… 😉

Until next time,

X Veerle
